This applies only if your organization is using UniFi Identity Enterprise with Adaptive VPN:
Before You Begin #
Please make sure of the following before starting:
- You have received your UniFi Identity invitation email.
- You have a mobile device available for two-factor authentication (2FA).
- You are using a compatible computer (macOS or Windows).
- You have uninstalled or disabled any legacy VPN software (such as Cisco AnyConnect, OpenVPN, L2TP/IPsec clients, or older UniFi VPN clients) to avoid conflicts.
- You have administrative access to install software on your device.
1. Account Activation #
- Receive your UniFi Identity invitation email.
- Activate your account and set your password.
- Download and sign into the UniFi Identity mobile app.
2. 2FA Enrollment #
- Setup 2FA within the mobile app (push or TOTP).
- Some organizations may enforce push-only or app-based tokens.
3. Download the VPN App #
- Go to https://identity.ui.com and sign in.
- Navigate to Downloads and install the VPN client for Windows/macOS.
4. VPN Connection #
- Open the UniFi VPN client.
- Log in using your UniFi Identity credentials.
- Complete the 2FA challenge.
- Click Connect.
Troubleshooting #
- Didn’t receive the activation email? Check your spam/junk folder or contact IT.
- Connection issues? Confirm your internet is working and legacy VPN apps are removed.
- If the VPN client hangs or fails to connect, restart your device and try again.
