Add an IMAP Mail Account in Microsoft Outlook (Android)

Step 1: Open Microsoft Outlook #

  1. Launch the Microsoft Outlook app on your Android device.
  2. If this is your first time opening Outlook, tap Get Started.
    • If you already have an account configured, tap your profile icon (top left), then tap the gear (Settings) icon.
    • Select Add Account → Add Email Account.

Step 2: Enter Your Email Address #

  1. Type in your email address (e.g., user@yourdomain.com).
  2. Tap Continue.

Step 3: Choose Account Type #

  1. When prompted, tap IMAP (not Exchange or Google).
    • If Outlook tries to auto-detect settings, choose “Advanced Setup” or “IMAP” manually.

Step 4: Enter IMAP Settings #

Fill in your server details as follows (adjust these to your domain):

Incoming Mail (IMAP) #

  • Server: mail.yourdomain.com
  • Port: 993
  • Security type: SSL/TLS
  • Username: your full email address
  • Password: your email password

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) #

  • Server: mail.yourdomain.com
  • Port: 465 or 587
  • Security type: SSL/TLS
  • Username: your full email address
  • Password: your email password

(Tip: Use the same credentials as your incoming mail server.)

Step 5: Sign In #

  1. Tap Sign In.
  2. Outlook will test your settings — if successful, your mailbox will load.
  3. You may be asked to grant permissions for contacts, calendar, or notifications — tap Allow.

Step 6: Final Setup #

  • Choose whether to sync contacts and calendar (optional).
  • Tap Done to finish.
  • You should now see your inbox syncing.

Step 7: Troubleshooting Tips #

If you see a “Can’t verify account” or “Login failed” message:

  • Double-check that the server names, ports, and encryption match exactly.
  • Confirm your username is your full email address.
  • Make sure your password is correct and that your mailbox allows IMAP connections.
