Add an IMAP Mail Account in Microsoft Outlook (iOS) #

Step 1: Open Microsoft Outlook #

  1. Launch the Microsoft Outlook app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. If this is your first time opening Outlook, tap Get Started.
    • If you already have an account configured, tap your profile icon (top left corner).
    • Tap the gear icon (Settings) in the bottom left.
    • Choose Add Mail Account → Add an Email Account.

Step 2: Enter Your Email Address #

  1. Type your email address (for example: user@yourdomain.com).
  2. Tap Add Account or Continue.

Step 3: Choose Account Type #

  1. If Outlook automatically detects Microsoft 365 or Exchange, tap “Not Exchange?”
  2. Select IMAP from the list of account types.(If prompted, choose Advanced Setup → IMAP.)

Step 4: Enter IMAP and SMTP Server Settings #

Incoming Mail (IMAP) #

  • Server: mail.yourdomain.com
  • Port: 993
  • Encryption: SSL/TLS
  • Username: your full email address
  • Password: your email password

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) #

  • Server: mail.yourdomain.com
  • Port: 465 or 587
  • Encryption: SSL/TLS
  • Username: your full email address
  • Password: your email password

(Tip: Always use the full email address for both incoming and outgoing username fields.)

Step 5: Complete Setup #

  1. Tap Sign In.
  2. Outlook will verify your settings and connect to your mailbox.
  3. Once verified, tap Done to finish.
  4. You can now access your Inbox from the main Outlook screen.

Step 6: Optional Settings #

  • You may be asked if you’d like to add another account — tap Maybe Later if not.
  • To adjust sync frequency or notifications, go to Settings → Mail Accounts → [Your Account].
  • Enable or disable Contacts / Calendar sync as desired.

Step 7: Troubleshooting #

If setup fails:

  • Verify your server names, ports, and encryption type.
  • Double-check that your username is your full email address.
  • Confirm IMAP access is enabled on your mail server.
  • Restart the Outlook app and retry.
